About Mahalakshmi Devi.

The looks of Mata Laxmi is expounded to an historic story. Durvasa the quick-tempered sage as soon as offered Indra, the king of the gods (devas) with a wreath of flowers which might by no means wilt. Indra gave this wreath to his elephant Airavata. Sage Durvasa noticed the elephant trampling the divine wreath and cursed Indra, for he had proven disrespect to the sage. The sage cursed Indra that he and all of the gods would lose their energy as a result of it had made them so proud and vain. As a result of curse, the demons vanquished the gods out of the heavens. The defeated gods then went to hunt refuge to the Creator Lord Brahma who requested them to churn the ocean of milk, Ksheersagar, to acquire the nectar of immortality. The gods then went to Lord Vishnu, to hunt his assistance. Lord Vishnu took the Avatar Kurma (Tortoise) and supported the Manthara Parvata (mountain) as a churning rod, whereas the king of the serpents, Vasuki, grew to become the churning rope. The gods and the demons (below the management of the pious and smart King Bali Chakravarti) each helped one another in churning the ocean of milk. Amongst the host of divine items which appeared from the ocean, mata Laxmi appeared after which selected Shri Vishnu as her consort, as solely He had the ability to manage Maya (phantasm). Due to this, Laxmi can be known as the daughter of the ocean; for the reason that moon additionally appeared from the ocean throughout the churning, the moon is named her brother. Alakshmi, the mata of misfortune, is Lakshmi's older sister. She is claimed to have additionally arisen from the ocean of milk.
