About Skanda

Mata Skandamata mounts on the ferocious lion. She carries child Murugan in her lap. Lord (bhagawan) Murugan is also called Kartikeya and brother of Lord (bhagawan) Ganesha. Mata Skandamata is depicted with 4 hands. She carries lotus flowers in her higher two hands. She holds child Murugan in one in each of her proper hand and retains the opposite proper hand in Abhaya Mudra. She sits on lotus flower and due to that Skandamata is also called Mata Padmasana.
