About Manas

Mansa Devi is a Hindu people mata of snakes, worshiped mainly in Bengal and different elements of North and northeastern India, mainly for the prevention and treatment of snakebite and in addition for fruitfulness and prosperity. Manasa is the sister of Vasuki, king of Nagas (snakes) and spouse of sage. She is also referred to as Vishahara (the destructive force of poison), Jagadgauri, Nitya (everlasting) and Padmavati. Manasa is depicted as a lady coated with snakes, session on a lotus or standing upon a snake. She is protected by the cover of the hoods of seven cobras. Typically, she is depicted with a toddler on her lap. The kid is unspecified to be her son, Astika. She is commonly referred to as "the one-eyed mata", as certainly one of her eyes was burnt by her stepmother Chandi.
