Lord (bhagawan) Kala Bhairava is also referred to as Kshetrapalaka, the protector of the temple (mandir). In honor of this, keys to the temple (mandir) are ceremonially submitted to Lord (bhagawan) Kaala Bhairava at temple (mandir) closing time and are obtained from him at opening time.

Lord (bhagawan) Kaala Bhairava can be the guardian of travelers. The Siddhas advise us that earlier than embarking on a journey, particularly one which includes journey throughout the night time, we must always make a wreath of cashew nuts and enhance Lord (bhagawan) Kala Bhairava with it. We should always gentle jothi lamps in His respect and request His safety throughout our journey.
